Department was started with UG programme in 2001 with an intake of 60, and subsequently enhanced to 90 in 2003 and to 120 in 2005 and to 180 in 2014. PG programme (M.Tech) in Communication Systems with an intake of 18 has been sanctioned from the academic year 2011-2012. The Department was accredited by NBA.

FACULTY: A team of highly qualified faculty members, comprises of 40 staff members with 4 Professors, 8 Associate Professors and 28 Asst. Professors, One Instrumentation Engineer, 1 senior technician and 3 Technicians. There are 16 Ph.D holders in the department and 22 faculty are pursuing Ph.D

Research Center: The department is recognized as Research Center by Andhra University and currently there are 12 Ph.D scholars guided by the faculty of the department.

MOU: Memorandum of Understanding is entered into and executed on this 30th day of January 2021 at Visakhapatnam between AECC GLOBAL, A company registered under the Companies Act, 1956, through its Manager Mr. Vinodh & Dept. of ECE, ANITS, represented by its Head, Prof. V. Rajya Lakshmi. In this regard a brief discussion on various programs offered by them is given by the team members of AECC GLOBAL. Prof. V. Rajya Lakshmi expressed her happiness in words saying that as a part of Career Guidance this MOU will be very much useful for students of ECE to have a path for their Overseas Education.

Library and Internet Facility: Department has an exclusive Departmental library with around 700 Volumes and consisting of E-Learning resources like NPTEL. Department is provided with internet facility with 4 Mbps speed.

LABS & ICT Class Rooms: The Department has well equipped 8 labs like DSP/VHDL Lab, Microprocessors and Applications Lab, Communication Lab, Electronic Devices and Circuits Lab-1, Electronic Devices and Circuits Lab-2, Microwave and Antennas lab, Project lab and Simulation Lab. The department has a Seminar hall with Projector facility and there are 5 lecture rooms with Projector facility.

CLUBS: To encourage the extra-curricular activities of the students and to make them think out of box, the department of ECE has active student cum faculty clubs like Creativity & Innovations Club, Higher Education Club, Green Club, Wall magazine Club, Yoga Club, Sports Club and Cultural Club.
