This program was presided by Prof. Ramesh Challagundla, HOD Department of ECE. In his talk, the speaker informed the audience that in India alone there are 1.5 lakh cell towers installed in various parts of the country. The electromagnetic waves emanating from these towers have adverse effect on the health of the humanity.

The speaker briefed the gathering that in comparison to other countries, the usage of cell phone is more in India and day by day this number is growing enormously. By using cell phone for extended time impairment of hearing, loss of memory and contracting of cancer takes place.

According to the international norms, cell towers are supposed to be installed away from residential areas. The students were advised to minimize the use of cell phone. The speaker strongly recommended that it is good for the youth below 15 years of age to not use cell phone and this is being scrupulously followed in developed countries.
